In the fast-paced world of conferences and events, streamlined communication and easy access to information became essential. We wanted to transform the conference experience for both attendees and organizers, and that's where the idea for TGG Fellow was born.
Our vision was simple: to make conferencing easier for everyone, while harnessing the power of ChatGPT. Our primary objective was to eliminate the time-consuming process of seeking information and assistance during conferences.
Why the need for change?
Conferences can be overwhelming, especially when they last for more than one day: multiple lectures occurring simultaneously, numerous speakers, and a wide array of happenings scattered across various event locations. We envisioned a companion app that would take the hassle out of conference navigation and provide attendees with a one-stop solution for all their conference-related queries.
The story of TGG Fellow
The journey began with a strong team and the right technology stack. We opted for native apps for Android and iOS and built a powerful chatbot backend powered by ChatGPT. The communication between the app and our ChatGPT backend was facilitated via WebSockets, providing a dynamic and responsive user experience.
Our architectural choices created a seamless and interactive experience for conference attendees who will be using TGG Fellow. By integrating ChatGPT into the core of our chatbot backend, we've harnessed its natural language processing capabilities to provide personalized and context-aware responses to conference-goers, elevating their interaction with the event.

Challenges in development
For the mobile development team, one of the most significant challenges was handling the data stream in a way that mimicked a conversation with a chatbot. This required breaking down the information into manageable data chunks and presenting it seamlessly to the users. It took some time and creative thinking, but we managed to make it work. Most teams would say their biggest challenge was keeping up with the mobile team's never-ending questions and requests!
Design collab
To enhance the user experience, we collaborated closely with a design team. Their contribution was crucial in creating a beautiful and intuitive app seamlessly integrated with the existing TGG identity. The design is straightforward and simple, featuring a login screen and a chat interface with easy-to-navigate menus. The simplicity of TGG Fellow’s design is intentional; it allows users to jump straight into a conversation to quickly find what they need, whether checking the conference schedule or seeking information about speakers and topics.
Gathering user feedback
As a relatively large company, we have a unique advantage: gathering in-house feedback. After thorough development and testing, we shared the app with other teams, collecting their opinions and suggestions on improving it.
User feedback is the lifeblood of our continuous success.
A brighter future for conferences
As one of the creators and a user of the app, I've experienced firsthand how it can simplify the conference experience. Instead of visiting the website, finding the schedule, and then searching for a particular lecture manually, I asked our TGG Fellow for information, and it delivered it. With each round of improvements, our app is becoming an irreplaceable companion, making conferences more enjoyable and informative than ever before.
