Employee spotlight: Dominik Fačko
He can plug in a USB on the first try. Yeah, you've heard that right. Always interested in multiple things, backend software engineer intern Dominik Fačko has yet to do wonders in our software development team.
How did you first learn about Barrage?
One of my friends works here so I heard about Barrage through him.
What are three words you’d use to describe Barrage?
Improvement, motivation, fellowship.
What do you like most about Barrage?
I really like the good atmosphere and the positive working environment. When I go to work, it doesn’t feel like just another boring workday that I want to be over as soon as possible. It feels like I’m going to do something I like, with other people that like the same thing, to help, solve, create and improve something.
If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?
After working here for some time and getting to know people, I would pick the same mentor I have right now - Tibor.
Describe your dream job?
Working at Barrage is pretty close.
What does true leadership mean to you?
A true leader is someone who will help each team member achieve their full potential, encouraging team member’s professional and personal development. True leadership is knowing how to work together with people, coordinating a team, setting goals, and working with that team to achieve set goals.
What’s your next step, or a few goals you’d like to accomplish in Barrage?
When I started working in our industry, my goal was to work on something I believed would be meaningful and have my name behind that project. It would feel great to be able to say that I helped make it happen. I think I can do that here at Barrage. My other goal is to be “that guy” people go to when they have questions.
What are your hopes for our industry?
I don't really have any specific hopes. I’m interested in multiple things; I want to see how far we can go with AI and how we can utilize it. I also find neural networks really interesting, and I wonder how far we can push them to mimic us.
What does a typical week look like for you?
I think it is the same for all of us. Wake up - go to work - come home and do your thing. I spend most of my free time on my PC, playing games, watching anime, or any interesting TV series. Currently, I watch a lot of SomeOrdinaryGamers (YouTube channel). I also like to spend my free time with my family, friends, and with my pets. On the weekends I get together with friends, so we usually play football or board games.
I currently have 10 cats and 3 dogs. I name each one based on their personality and looks. Listing them all would be a long list, but one of my favorites is Hairy.

What is your hidden talent?
Don’t really want to brag, but I can plug in a USB on the first try. Also, I'm pretty good at freediving.
Dominik especially loves freediving, so he usually spends his vacation at the shore
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
I would learn how to fly a fighter jet.
If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?
I would like to meet whoever decided to ruin the last 4 seasons of Game of thrones.
